Step 1
Complete a hunter education course approved by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) if you were born after June 30, 1979.

Be 16 years of age or older. You also must provide your social security number. You don't need a hunting license in South Carolina if you're under 16 years old.

Step 3
Apply as a resident if you have lived in South Carolina for the past 30 days or are serving in the United States military and are stationed in South Carolina. You can also get a lifetime license if you have lived in South Carolina for the past six months. You will need to provide a valid South Carolina driver's license or other identification.

Step 4
Fill out an application online at the SCDNR website if you have a valid driver's license, state ID card, military ID or passport. You need to pay the fee with a credit card and you will be charged a convenience fee.

Step 5
Submit an application in person with a license sales agent or by calling 1-866-714-3611 any time. You may also download and complete the appropriate application from the SCDNR website. You will be charged a shipping fee and a convenience fee if paying by credit card.

Step 6
Mail the application with your payment to: License Division, P.O. Box 11710, Columbia, SC 29211-1710. Your license will be mailed to you.
