How to Make an Emergency Funnel

Uh-oh. You're attempting to fill the bird feeder and the seeds are going everywhere but in the feeder. Your car has overheated and you have no way of getting water into the radiator. You're trying to fill your spice jar, but mustard seeds are falling all over the floor. You need a funnel. Luckily, it's easy to create your own plastic or paper emergency funnel. Read on to learn more.

Things You'll Need

• Empty bleach bottle
• Empty soda bottle
• Scissors
• Scotch tape
• Paper

Instructions

1. Use scissors to cut an empty, clean bleach bottle in half and remove the cap. This makes a great funnel to keep in your car for motor oil, water or antifreeze.

2. Make an all-purpose emergency funnel by cutting the top off of an empty soda bottle, about 1/3 from the top. Remove the lid and your funnel is ready.

3. Cut a circle out of paper to quickly create an emergency funnel. Cut a pie-shaped piece out of your circle, about one-fourth the size of the circle. Overlap the edges of the larger piece and tape them together. Cut off the tip and your emergency paper funnel is done.

4. Create an emergency funnel out of wax paper by rolling the paper into a funnel shape. Use the wax paper funnel to pour spices into small containers.

5. Roll up a newspaper to make an impromptu paper funnel for dry goods. It can also hold water for a short time.

Tips & Warnings

• Thicker paper, such as card stock or construction paper, will make a sturdier funnel.

• A large paper funnel can also make an impromptu funny hat for children.
