How to Dress Like the Blues Brothers

The legendary Blues Brothers have become musical and cinematic icons and an important part of American popular culture. You can pay tribute to them by creating your own Blues Brothers outfit.

Things You'll Need

• Black suit, preferably three-button style
• White shirt
• Narrow black neck tie
• Dark sunglasses
• Sideburns
• Black oxford shoes
• White socks
• Black fedora hat

Instructions

1. Buy a traditional black suit. This is the key piece of the Blues Brothers' look. If you want to be authentic, find a three-button suit and you'll look like Jake and Elwood in no time.

2. Don a basic, white button-down shirt.

3. Visit your local thrift shop and seek out a skinny black neck tie. The tie is a Blue Brothers necessity. If you can't find one, you may want to try a costume shop or the Internet.

4. Get yourself a pair of the Blues Brothers' signature dark sunglasses. If you're a purist, the real Blues Brothers wore Ray-Ban Wayfarers, but anything similar will work.

5. Glue on a pair of costume-shop sideburns or grow your own.

6. Slip on your dancin' shoes. Jake and Elwood wore Russian parade shoes, but a pair of plain black oxfords will work just fine. You will need some white socks too.
