How to Organize Favorites in Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer's "Favorites" menu is a feature that makes accessing frequently visited websites easy. When your list gets long and navigating through all the saved links gets difficult, however, it may be time for some organizing. You will learn how to delete out old favorites that are no longer needed, rename links to find sites quicker and use folders to group your favorites together.

Deleting Favorites

  • Select the "Favorites" menu and click on "Organize Favorites."

  • Remove any links you do not want anymore by highlighting them and clicking the "Delete" button or hit the "Delete" key on the keyboard. When the message box asks if you are sure you want to delete, select "Yes."

  • Click "Close" on the "Organize Favorites" box when you have all the unwanted links deleted.

Renaming Favorites

  • Select the "Favorites" menu and click on "Organize Favorites."

  • Pick the link you want to change and select the "Rename" button. Type in the new name you wish to give, then press the "Enter" key on your keyboard.

  • Click "Close" on the "Organize Favorites" box when you have changed all the desired names.

Using Folders to Group Favorites

  • Select the "Favorites" menu and click on "Organize Favorites." Decide what links you want to group together.

  • Make a new folder by selecting the "Create Folder" button. Type in the name of the folder and hit the "Enter" key on your keyboard.

  • Place the links into your new folders by highlighting them and clicking on "Move to Folder". A box with all of the folders you have created will appear. Select the folder you want to put the links in and click "OK."

  • Click "Close" on the "Organize Favorites" box when you have created and arranged all your new folders.
