How to Make a Rain Day Craft Box for Kids

It's storming and the family is stuck inside. Time to think of some activities to keep the kids busy. They may spend too much time connected to the television or computer. Put together a rain day craft box to keep your kids' minds and creativity at bay on a day of playing indoors.

Instructions

1. Take an old shoe box, or a box of a larger size, clean out its contents and line it with tissue paper.

2. Let your little one decorate the box however they choose to make it their own rainy day craft box. If you have several children, let each one have a box to decorate and fill with fun.

3. Add slips of paper with activity ideas into each box as you think of them. When the kids are stuck inside declaring their boredom, you'll have lots of fun responses.

4. Stockpile the boxes with kids magazines, coloring books and puzzle books. They'll enjoy scanning brand new reading and coloring materials. Throw in special markers, crayons, colored pencils or fun new pens.

5. Stick it. Kids love things that stick--from stickers to sticky notes adhesive tattoos. Let their minds run free as they decorate paper or their arms and legs.

6. Make it baking time. Add some easy-to-follow recipes to the craft box. The kids will learn to bake and can savor yummy treat--their reward for the hard work in the kitchen.

7. Let them doodle. Place journals or sketch pads in the boxes and let them fill the pages with their imagination.

8. Add scrapbook supplies. A fun parent/child activity, work on a scrapbook together as they grow up. Include fun, themed scrapbooking materials specifically for capturing their rainy day entertainment.
