You can use email to send large documents and other material you don't want to cut and paste by attaching them to your communication. Sending attachments is a feature of the Hotmail email service and it couldn't be easier.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go to www.hotmail.com to sign in. This is the Hotmail homepage.

  2. Step 2

Sign in to your Hotmail account using your email address and password. If you do not have an email account with the Hotmail service, you must first create one.

  3. Step 3

Compose your email by clicking on the "New Message" command. This is located at the top left side of the screen.

  4. Step 4

Write your message in the body of the email. Click the "Attach" command at the top of the page. It will have a paperclip icon next to it.

  5. Step 5

Choose either the "File" or "Contact Information" option under the "Attach" command.

  6. Step 6

Choose the file you wish to send as an attachment. If this file is not in the saved files on your computer, you must first save it.

  7. Step 7

Double-click on the file or click on it and choose the "Open" command.

  8. Step 8

Add additional attachments by choosing the "OK" and "Attach Another" command.

  9. Step 9

Click the "Send" command once you are finished adding attachments. The attachment has been sent.

Tips & Warnings
  • To save a written document (such as a Microsoft Word document) click the "File" command, followed by the "Save" or "Save As" command. Make sure you remember what name you give the file so that you can find it later.
  • Write at least a short message to the person to whom you are sending the attachment. This will give them a context for the attachment.
