How to Make Herb Butter

If you are tired of spreading that same old stick of butter on your bread, then you should spice it up. In just a few short minutes, you can create a butter spread that will leave your mouth watering. Here's an Herb Butter recipe that will knock your socks off. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 2 sticks of butter
  • Chives
  • Parsley
  • Sage
  • Tarragon
  • 1/2 tsp. lemon juice

      Remove the butter from your fridge and allow it soften on the counter for about 30 minutes.

      Finely chop fresh parsley, tarragon, chives and sage. You do not need a lot of each. For this amount of butter, the whole herb mixture should only be 2 tbsp.

      Add herb mixture, butter and lemon juice in a bowl.

      Combine the ingredients using a hand mixer until well mixed.

      Place in the fridge for an hour so that the butter again hardens. Serve with bread or place on steak just off the grill.

Tips & Warnings

  • The Herb Butter will last about 10 days in the fridge. If you have excess you may freeze it for about two months.

  • If you want to really impress your friends and family, place your Herb Butter in a mold to let it harden. You can also use a cookie cutter to make a shape out of your butter. Just be sure that your butter is good and cold.

  • Feel free to mix and match herbs. Different kinds of mints might be interesting to try. Just maintain the same ratio of butter to herbs.

  • Be sure to add a pinch of salt before mixing if you are using unsalted butter.
