Instructions

    • 1

Choose a long dress in a pastel color. The style is really up to you so look around until you find something that has a light, whimsical, fairy-like quality. Try an old prom dress or just look for something that looks like something a fairy would wear.

    • 2

Sew a few lengths of tulle netting around the waist of the skirt of the dress or sew a large gather of tulle in the back to create a train. This will turn your dress into a fairy gown.

    • 3

Cut two equal lengths of craft wire and bend each of them into a curved wing shape. The size and shape of your wings is up to you so be creative. Make small rounded butterfly-like wings or go for something longer and more dramatic.

    • 4

Twist two more lengths of wire around the long part of the wing that will be against your back. Bend them into hook-like shapes that will loop easily and securely over your shoulders. These will hold your wings in place.

    • 5

Stretch tulle netting over the wire outline of each wing and adhere to the wire with spray adhesive.

    • 6

Spray the tulle netting with glitter spray paint to make your wings sparkle. Set them outside to dry.

    • 7

Wrap the dowel rod with lengths of pastel ribbon and glue them in place. Glue a few extra lengths of ribbon to one end of the dowel rod so they can fly off the end of your magic fairy wand when you shower some lucky mortal with fairy dust.

    • 8

Spray the wand with glitter spray paint, if desired.

    • 9

Apply the glitter face paint to cheekbones and around your eyes to give yourself a little fairy sparkle. Use face paint that is safe for skin application and avoid contact with your eyes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not use the glitter spray paint as a substitute for the glitter face paint. It may be harmful if it comes in prolonged contact with your skin or gets in your eyes.
