Instructions

    • 1

Purchase inner tubes from a tire shop. Buy new or used tubes-either will work fine. Have the shop fill the tubes up with air.

    • 2

Drive in two vehicles to the Cedar River. Drop off all but the two drivers at your desired launch site.

    • 3

Drive both vehicles to your end point. Park the cars at the Renton Library for a short trip or go all the way to Lake Washington for a longer journey.

    • 4

Drive one of the cars back to the start point and park. Have the entire group start floating down the river at the same time.

    • 5

Wear old tennis shoes, water shoes or water sandals while floating to avoid cutting your feet.

    • 6

Have all members of the float party wear life jackets. Make sure even experienced swimmers wear life jackets as rivers can have strong under currents.

    • 7

Get out of the river at your desired stopping point. Have two people drive up to the starting point to retrieve the other vehicle and come pick everyone up.

Tips & Warnings

  • Start at the Renton Library if you are floating to the lake.

  • Put your tubes in after the small rapids located before the Maple Valley Golf Course.

  • Use plenty of sunscreen even if the sky is cloudy.

  • Do not over inflate tubes, or they will explode.

  • Carefully watch small children, or have them share a tube with a competent adult.
