Hair wraps are popular with tweens and teenagers, and they're easy to make. Kids can get as creative with them as they want, putting in their own style and personality. You don't have to pay 20 dollars for a professional wrap. Here's how to do it yourself.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

    Braiding the Hair

  1. Step 1

Choose a small piece of hair toward the front; it should be visible from the front and the side view. Make it as thick or thin as you like, keeping in mind the more hair, the longer it will take and the more material you will need.

  2. Step 2

Put the section of hair you have chosen into a ponytail with a small hair elastic.

  3. Step 3

Pull the rest of the hair out of the way by clipping it in the back.

  4. Step 4

Braid the small section of hair tightly; put another elastic around it to secure it.

  5. Wrapping the Hair

  6. Step 1

Choose the colors of embroidery floss you would like to use - usually one to four colors. Anymore than four and it starts getting too thick.

  7. Step 2

Cut one strand of each color until it is a little more than twice the size of the length of the braided hair.

  8. Step 3

Lay them out so they are side by side and grab them in a bunch in the middle of the strands. Tie them all together as one onto the top of the ponytail at the base. You should now have two strings of each color hanging down from the base of the braid.

  9. Step 4

Add beads as you go and/or a charm at the top by threading them into the floss.

  10. Step 5

Wrap the floss around the braid tightly, one color at a time alternating between colors. When wrapping with one color, wrap both strands around the braid and the other strands of floss, holding the other strands and the braid together. Get creative with your pattern and make it any way you like.

  11. Step 6

Add charms or beads to the end of the wrap if you like. Once you reach the end, double knot your thread tightly and cut it. Now you have a hair wrap that you can wear in your hair for days.
