    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • Whole chicken
    • Beer can (full of beer)
    • Seasonings of your choice
    • Vegetables (onions, bell pepper, green onions, lemon)
    • Olive oil
    • Chopped or minced garlic
    • Large potato
      • 1

Clean the chicken thoroughly. Remove parts that you don't want to eat. Wash the beer can in warm soapy water before opening the beer.

      • 2

Open the beer and drink or remove half of the contents. The beer can be any flavor or brand you choose.

      • 3

Add garlic into the beer. Set the chicken on top of the beer can, sliding the can into the cavity of the chicken. You will have to press firmly and carefully to get the chicken on the can without crushing the can or spilling the beer.

      • 4

Coat the chicken with olive oil, and then sprinkle with your choice of seasonings. You may also use barbecue sauce on the chicken.

      • 5

Fill the chicken with vegetables. Use sliced or chopped onions, bell peppers, green onions and lemons. Add a large potato to fill the top hole in the chicken. This will help the juices remain inside the chicken.

      • 6

Place beer can and chicken on the grill or barbecue pit. It should be sitting upright.

      • 7

Cook until chicken is completely cooked. Use a meat thermometer to check the temperature. The breast and thigh should read 180 degrees F when done.

    Tips & Warnings

    • If your chicken doesn't stand upright on the grill, there are stands made just for cooking drunk chickens. Some hold the beer cans in place while others are metal cylinders to set the chicken on.

    • If you use barbecue or another type of sauce to coat the chicken, it may look burned when it is done. This is just the sauce. If you remove the skin the meat is juicy and full of flavor.

From my couple of trials... the veggies have to be a small amount, minced, added to the half full beer can or..... my preference is to use the solid food injector (veggies need to be finely chopped or minced here too, but you have the option to use a lot more veggies) and inject them under the skin of the bird. Doing the under skin injection of minced veggies adds so much flavor and moisture....... YUMMMM and I don't care for poultry. But my pup and kitty kats love it, so I add no salt or hot spices. Of course I get some myself........ sheeh..... lol.
