Bananas are full of vital nutrients for bodies, but these sweet tropical fruits also benefit the skin when applied in a facial mask. Bananas are high in Vitamin C, A, B6 and B12, plus they contain potassium and magnesium. The fruit acids in bananas help slough off dead skin and energize the complexion. Add banana to any other homemade facial recipe, as well.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 banana
  • 1 tsp. honey
  • 1 banana
  • 1/4 tsp. jojoba oil
  • 1 tbsp. wheat germ
  • 1 banana
  • 1/4 - 1/2 cup oatmeal
  • 1/8 tsp vitamin E oil
  • 1 banana

Adding Honey

Step1
Mash a banana with 1 tsp. of honey.
Step2
Apply the facial mask to cleansed face and neck, avoiding the eye area.
Step3
Leave on for 15 minutes and rinse with warm water. The banana and honey have a firming and moisturizing effect on the skin, as well as a light exfoliation of dead skin cells.

Adding Jojoba and Wheat Germ

Step1
Cut a banana in half and mash it with a fork so it doesn't become too runny.
Step2
Add 1/4 tsp. of soothing jojoba oil and 1 tbsp. of wheat germ to exfoliate.
Step3
Mix gently, just enough to combine all the ingredients.
Step4
Pat onto the skin, spreading evenly, avoiding the eye area. Leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse with warm, then cool water.

Adding Oatmeal

Step1
Combine a large banana with 1/4 to 1/2 cup of oatmeal. Use the oatmeal as-is or grind it to a powdery consistency in a food processor. Oatmeal clams and moisturizes the skin.
Step2
Mix with the banana until the oatmeal is moistened. The mask will be somewhat thick. If it is runny, add a little more oatmeal.
Step3
Apply to the skin and lie down for 20 minutes. Remove with a wash cloth and rinse face thoroughly with warm water.

Adding Vitamin E Oil

Step1
Add 1/8 tsp. of Vitamin E oil to a mashed banana, stirring just enough to incorporate the oil.
Step2
Pat onto the skin to form a mask and leave on for 10 minutes, avoiding the eye area.
Step3
Rinse off with warm water. Vitamin E is a well-known healing agent and helps clear up skin eruptions and prevent scarring.
