How to Create a Calendar in Lotus Notes

A well-developed calendar can make your life more organized and less stressful. Lotus Notes contains a calendar function that allows you to schedule meetings, appointments, anniversaries and any other event you would normally track on a paper calendar. Advanced Lotus Notes users can even check other people's calendars and schedule meetings, but it's best to first master the basics by managing your own time.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your calendar by clicking the calendar icon. It has a picture of a calendar on it. If you are in your mail database, you can click the drop down menu next to the word "mail" in the upper left-hand corner of your window and select "switch to calendar."

    • 2

Make a new entry in your calendar by selecting the "new action" button at the top of the calendar. An optional way of scheduling events is to double-click the actual day or time slot on the calendar.

    • 3

Categorize your new entry (appointment, anniversary, etc.) and enter specific information about the event in the subject field of the form, including date and time information.

    • 4

Edit a calendar entry by double-clicking the event. Once you've made changes, select "save and close."

    • 5

Change basic preferences in your Lotus Notes calendar by choosing "actions," then "tools," and finally "preferences" after you open the calendar. By selecting the "display" button, you'll be able to modify things like the default view and time formats. Select the "color" button and you can even change the colors for certain types of calendar entries, helping keep things more visually organized.

Tips & Warnings

  • The view in the calendar can be changed between one day, two days, one week and one month.

  • Using the "double-click" method is the easiest way to navigate in Lotus Notes calendar view.

Does anyone know if it is possible to use multiple calendars within notes. I would like to establish a dedicated calendar for a program I manage.
