How to Decorate Hair Clips

Decorate hair clips with an assortment of silk flowers.

Hair clips decorated with flowers are cute accessories to add to your daughter’s wardrobe. You can make them in any color to match every outfit your daughter has. Decorated hair clips can be expensive if purchased at the store. Instead of spending the extra money, make these hair clips as a fun mother-daughter project. These hair clips also make great gifts.

Things You'll Need

• Plain metal hair clips
• Silk flowers and leaves in many different colors
• Hot glue gun
• Beads, ribbon, or other decorative accessories

Instructions

1. Attach a ribbon to top of the hair clip with a thin layer of hot glue.

2. Pull each flower from the stem, or cut off the stem if necessary. Decide on how you want to arrange the flowers. You can use one big flower, or several small flowers, just make sure they cover the clip.

3. Place a small amount of hot glue where you would like each flower and then press the flower on to the clip.

4. Add decorative accessories such as beads, if desired.

5. Allow the clip to dry over night.

Tips & Warnings

• Make sure to allow the clip to dry sufficiently. If not, you'll have a mess in your hair.

• Look for silk flowers at garage or yard sales. You can often get them much cheaper than purchasing them from the craft store.

• Be careful if you are using a hot glue gun. The glue is very hot and can burn you if you're not careful.
