It is commonplace for people to inadvertently touch the screen in an attempt to show particular aspects of a presentation or to make a point. Unfortunately, their point forever remains on the laptop screen. To remove the point and other unwanted particles from your screen, use the following cleaning method.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 2 soft cloths
  • 1/4 cup of alcohol
  • 1/4 cup of distilled water
  • Small cup or bowl

Step1
Wipe the laptop screen with a soft cloth. By wiping the screen before you start, you will remove any of the loose excess dust and dirt particles.
Step2
Mix equal parts of alcohol and distilled water in the small bowl.
Step3
Dip one of the soft cloths into the mixture. Wring out excess liquid until the cloth is damp.
Step4
Clean the laptop screen with the damp cloth.
Step5
Remove excess moisture with a dry soft cloth.

Tips & Warnings

  • Soft cloths are used instead of paper towels to prevent scratching the screen. Note that paper towels and paper napkins tend to leave excess paper particles—the very thing you want removed from your screen.
  • To mix larger portions for storing, remember to use equal parts of distilled water and alcohol.
  • For best results, dip the cloth into the liquid mixture rather than putting the mixture into a spray bottle. You don't want to accidentally spray your laptop's keyboard.
  • Do not use tap or bottled water. Regular tap and bottled water contain minerals that will leave mineral deposit streaks on your laptop screen.
