One of the most effective ways of training, motivating and supporting a direct sales team is through a newsletter. A monthly direct sales team newsletter is a simple and effective way to launch your team into the next level. Here's how to write one.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Word-processing software
  • Internet and email provider
  • Printer
  1. Step 1

Recognize your team members' accomplishments. This should be the highlight of your direct sales newsletter. Say "hoo-ray!" to the top sellers. Send a shout-out to the top recruiters. Challenge your team members to reach the top spot next month so they can see their names in print, too.

  2. Step 2

Train your team. Review your team statistics for the month. Is there an area that could use improvement? Write (or include) a brief article that focuses on that issue. For example, if party sales have been lower than normal, you may want to include hostess coaching tips for your readers.

  3. Step 3

Encourage participation. Invite your team members to participate in the newsletter. If one of your members had a particularly impressive month, ask him or her to share the success story with the rest of the team.

  4. Step 4

Highlight a product (or product line). Help maintain your team's enthusiasm for the product line by featuring a particular product in the team newsletter. Include the benefits of the product, include pictures (if possible) and provide sales tips.

  5. Step 5

Remind and inform. Use your team newsletter as reminder. Tell your team about upcoming meetings, training events or company promotions. Don't forget to include your personal contact information and company contact information in every issue.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make it a goal to send your team newsletter out monthly. Print newsletters are the most effective, but if money is an issue you can also choose to email the newsletter or upload it to your team's website.
  • It is important to maintain direct communication with your team members, so only use your newsletter as a "bonus" source of information.
