As a recent inductee into all things Harry Potter, you head to a couple of message boards to chat with others who are interested in the world of J.K. Rowling. You are confused when you find Internet message boards filled with acronyms such as DADA, CoS and SS. You can decipher this new language by following these steps.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Make sure you have read all the Harry Potter books. If you only watch the movies, the acronyms will never fully make sense.

Start by learning the acronyms for people's names. HP=Harry Potter; SS=Severus Snape; JKR=J.K. Rowling; DD=Dumbledore; HG=Hermione Granger; RW=Ron Weasley; F/G=Fred and George Weasley; GW=Ginny Weasley; JP/LP=James and Lily Potter; MM=Minerva McGonagall; LV=Lord Voldemort (also affectionately called "Voldy"); TR=Tom Riddle; DM=Draco Malfoy.
Step3
Master the acronyms for the various book titles. (All Harry Potter book titles begin with the phrase, "Harry Potter and the...") PS/SS=Philosopher's Stone/Sorcerer's Stone (representing the different British and American titles); CoS=Chamber of Secrets; PoA=Prisoner of Azkaban; GoF=Goblet of Fire; OotP=Order of the Phoenix; HBP=Half-Blood Prince; DH=Deathly Hallows.
Step4
Move on to other assorted acronyms. DADA=Defense Against the Dark Arts class; MoM=Ministry of Magic; UV=Unbreakable Vow; DE=Death Eater; Hx=horcrux; FF=Forbidden Forest; HPL=Harry Potter Lexicon; MN=MuggleNet; LC=Leaky Cauldron.
Step5
Keep reading the books and surfing the Internet. The more you delve into the world of Harry Potter, the easier it will be to understand Harry Potter Internet acronyms.
