Rowling; DD=Dumbledore; HG=Hermione Granger; RW=Ron Weasley; F/G=Fred and George Weasley; GW=Ginny Weasley; JP/LP=James and Lily Potter; MM=Minerva McGonagall; LV=Lord Voldemort (also affectionately called "Voldy"); TR=Tom Riddle; DM=Draco Malfoy.

Master the acronyms for the various book titles. (All Harry Potter book titles begin with the phrase, "Harry Potter and the...") PS/SS=Philosopher's Stone/Sorcerer's Stone (representing the different British and American titles); CoS=Chamber of Secrets; PoA=Prisoner of Azkaban; GoF=Goblet of Fire; OotP=Order of the Phoenix; HBP=Half-Blood Prince; DH=Deathly Hallows.

Move on to other assorted acronyms. DADA=Defense Against the Dark Arts class; MoM=Ministry of Magic; UV=Unbreakable Vow; DE=Death Eater; Hx=horcrux; FF=Forbidden Forest; HPL=Harry Potter Lexicon; MN=MuggleNet; LC=Leaky Cauldron.
