How to Choose a Cell Phone Service Provider

Finding the best cell phone service provider in certain areas can be tricky. Most service providers require a contract for a certain period of time so you don't want to be stuck with one you don't like. All cell phone providers claim to be the best, but more importantly find the one that is best for you.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Choose a service that has cell towers covering your home and other areas you travel to, including other states. That ensures your cell phone will be ready to use when you need it.
Step2
Ask neighbors what cell phone provider they are using. Find out if they are getting a good connection and plan on continuing service with their cell phone provider. If you do not know where you may be traveling, chose a cell phone provider who has the most coverage.
Step3
Compare monthly service plans and pre-paid options. Ask the cell phone service representative what is included in each plan, or how much minutes cost for pre-paid plans. Find out the per minute rate charge when the allotted number of minutes is exceeded in a monthly plan.
Step4
Review cell phone features including GPS tracking, Touch Screen technology, Multimedia texting, Speakerphone, Bluetooth technology, Internet capability, Instant Messaging and MP3 capabilities. If features are not what you are looking for, basic cell phones can also be purchased.
