How to Create a Geocaching Team Name
Geocaching is an adventure treasure-hunting game using GPS devices. Participants who hide and look for caches choose names to identify themselves online or during organized geocaching events. Whether you participant alone, with your family or as a group of friends, you'll want to create a great geocaching team name to be known by.

1
Gather team members together to discuss possible names. Your team name will be the ID that you use on geocaching websites to log caches you've hid or found and to discuss geocaching with others. You will also use the name to sign cache log books if you enter any geocaching events.
-
2
Create a list of words that describe your group. This might include how many people there are, where you are from, what links you together, other common interests that you have, what you look like or any other words that you like.

-
3
Look for combinations of the words that you like. You may want to combine several words or numbers, but remember that you don't want your team name to be too long as you'll be entering it a lot. You should also try to select some combinations that are easy to remember for both you and those that you'll be interacting with online or in person.
-
4
Search the geocaching sites to see if anyone else has already chosen any of the name combinations that you have. You will need to have a unique combination so if someone is already using the name, you can mark it off your list.
-
5
Narrow down your list and select the geocaching team name that you like best. Try to come to a team decision if there are multiple people involved and if your team is your family, give children a say in the name. This will help them get involved and excited about geocaching.
-
6
Register your name online at the geocaching sites that you plan to use. Once registered, use your team name when you register a cache you've hidden, sign a log book or report on a cache you've found.
