1. Make a list of your interests and hobbies. Brainstorm topics that you could blog about.

2. Focus on the reason you would like to start a blog. Some people blog to become semi-famous on the Internet, some blog for fun while others blog to help their careers.
   
   

3. Sign up for a blog with a blogging service. There are many to select from; two of the most popular are Blogger and Live Journal.
   
   

4. Register for Google AdSense for your blog. They will place appropriate targeted advertisements on your blog and you will earn money every time someone clicks on an advertisement.

5. Consider signing up for a blog through Blog It Live, 451 Press or Soulcast. These sites promise to help bring traffic to your blog, which will help people click on Google AdSense advertisements.

6. Look into paid posting opportunities such as the Pay Per Post website and Pay U 2 Blog. Each of these will pay you for posting an advertisement or opinion about a product on your blog.

7. Think of ways you can start multiple blogs. Many people who are successful with blogging have more than one blog, usually built around the same subject.

• To sign up for a paid posting service, your blog must be at least 90 days old and approved by the service. Check each website for specific details.
• The most successful bloggers are passionate and knowledgeable about their subject. Think about what you are most passionate and knowledgeable about and then you have got a winning subject.
• Comment on other people's blogs to encourage them to come visit your blog and get more traffic.
• Be patient, it can take awhile for a blog to become successful.

on 10/27/2009 Watch out for PayPerPost, Google will derank you if they find you using them. I went from a great page rank to 0 in one day, and that was the reason given. PayU2Blog has been nothing but awesome.
