If a new neighbor has moved into your community, it would be gracious of you to make an effort to welcome the family. It can be hard to meet people in a new neighborhood and they will really appreciate your effort to make them feel comfortable. Read on to learn how to welcome a new neighbor.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Introduce yourself. The simplest way to welcome a new neighbor is to go to their house and let them know about you and the community. Provide them with some neighborhood tips.

  2. Step 2

Give baked goods. Moving can be a hectic time and a new neighbor would appreciate a tray of sweets. Brownies and cookies, homemade or store bought, are excellent choices.

  3. Step 3

Create a welcome basket. You can pick a theme and work around that. A soup basket that includes mugs, spoons, crackers and soup mix is a good idea. Another basket idea is a selection of gourmet foods, including meats, cheeses and crackers.

  4. Step 4

Give some information on the area. To welcome a new neighbor, you can provide them with local maps, a community newsletter and a calendar of local events.

  5. Step 5

Put together a coupon booklet. Collect some coupons from area businesses and present it to the new family.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't be offended if the new neighbor does not warm up to you right away. Some people are not as interested in connecting with neighbors.
  • Don't feel that you have to cover the cost alone for welcome gifts. Ask a few other neighbors to chip in with you.
