Cardio kickboxing is an exciting way to get a great workout, and to learn useful martial arts techniques without having to engage in actual combat with others. With cardio kickboxing's growing popularity, it's easier than ever to sign up for a cardio kickboxing class that fits your needs perfectly.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Proper workout attire
  • Enrollment fee
  1. Step 1

Find a cardio kickboxing facility near you by logging onto a fitness resource such as GymTicket.com (see Resources below). This Web site specializes in finding the right training facility for its visitors' needs.

  2. Step 2

Sit in and observe a class at your chosen training facility before you sign up. Get a feel for the way the class is conducted, and whether or not you feel comfortable with the methods the instructors are using. Do they challenge the skills of the class while being sensitive to their needs? Is there time for one-on-one instruction, or is the size of the class too large?

  3. Step 3

Choose a cardio kickboxing class that is best suited for your skill level. Many facilities will offer various class levels, from beginner to advanced. Others will offer a single class, but recommend that participants complete the routines at their own pace.

  4. Step 4

Prepare for your class by choosing the appropriate attire. Clothing should be loose to avoid restricting your movements. A good pair of cross-training shoes will be needed. Visit AOL Fitness' Kickboxing Basics for more tips on how to get ready for cardio kickboxing (see Resources below).

Tips & Warnings
  • Always drink plenty of water before any cardio kickboxing workouts. The repetitive cardiovascular routines will make you sweat a lot and increase the potential for dehydration.
  • Ask your instructors for tips on how to enhance your cardio kickboxing workouts through proper diet, hydration techniques and cross training. Most kickboxing professionals stress the importance of all of these things in order to truly perform their best.
  • Always check with your doctor before you decide to join any fitness class.
  • People with back or heart problems, or who have arthritis or other joint conditions should not practice Cardio kickboxing.
  • Never feel pressured to push yourself beyond your limits. If you feel that a routine is too difficult or tiring, avoid injury and slow down your pace.
