How to Rent Mascot Costumes

While high school, college and professional sports teams usually have one consistent mascot, and therefore are likely to purchase the costume, there are many occasions that require a mascot costume for short term use. Renting a costume is the most economical way to do this.

  1. Rent Mascot Costumes for Any Occasion

    • 1

Rent costumes for holiday celebrations from The Costumer. In addition to the standard Santa suit, they also offer costumes such as gingerbread boy and girl, reindeer, toy soldier and more.

    • 2

Rent a costume for pep rallies or the big game if your school doesn't have a regular mascot. The sudden appearance of a Viking, bear, dragon or whatever your school's symbol is will be sure to bring roars of enthusiasm.

    • 3

Use your imagination if your school logo doesn't lend itself to a specific animal. If your team symbol is lightening, for instance, you could choose an animal noted for its speed, such as a cheetah, or for lack of it--Lightening the Turtle will draw some laughs without having to do a thing.

    • 4

Add excitement to school events by having a costumed mascot perform. If you have a Spring Carnival or field day, for instance, you might want to rent a sun costume from Akron Designs. If your school puts on a charity circus, rent some costumes such as an elephant, lion or seal and put on an animal act.

    • 5

Rent costumes to entertain at children's parties. The Fun Ones is a source for licensed costumes such as Spiderman, Batman, Cinderella or Snow White.

Tips & Warnings

  • Order your costume well in advance for major holiday seasons, when demand is exceptionally high.

  • It's worth an extra few dollars to have the costume available for an extra day or two so that the performer can practice his or her skits and routines while wearing it. Costumes are hot and heavy, and require a performer in good physical shape if he or she is going to do more than walk and wave. The performer will also have to get used to having limited vision and to using oversized hands and feet.

  • Be sure to take excellent care of the costume while you have it. These costumes are very expensive, and you will be held liable for any damages.
