A persuasive essay is writing to persuade the reader to understand an issue or stance. Write a persuasive essay to convince the reader to accept the point or argument. Keep your clear objective in mind while writing a persuasive essay.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Identify the main point for the essay. It helps if it is a personal issue. Be informed, and be specific about the point.
Step2
Consider the audience. Think about who will be reading the essay. It may be someone who is undecided or it may be someone who is adamantly against the idea. This makes a big difference in how to approach the issues.
Step3
Find the strongest supporting points. Become very informed about the issue, and determine the points which will be used in the essay. Have facts and examples for support. It helps to make a quick table of pros and cons. This will help determine which points are strong enough to be used, and which con is the strongest.
Step4
Address the opposing view. If there is one strong argument against the idea, address it and have a response.
Step5
Organize the paper well. The first paragraph should be the introduction, hooking the reader’s attention and clearly stating the main point. The following paragraphs should be the argument. There should be one paragraph for each supporting point with examples. Discuss the opposing view in a flowing paragraph. Finally, finish with a conclusive paragraph restating the main idea and supporting points in a creative way.
