Things You'll Need:
- Dollhouse lighting kit
- Eyelets
- Eyelet installation tool
-
Step 1
Make your decisions. Before you buy lighting for your dollhouse, decide where you want that lighting to go. The placement of your lighting will determine the placement of your outlets on the interior walls.
-
Step 2
Wire your dollhouse. You can purchase a dollhouse wiring kit at most craft stores or online at Cir-Kit Concepts (see Resources below). The kit will come with everything you need to wire your dollhouse for electricity as well as complete instructions for doing so. You will need electricity running in your dollhouse before you can install lighting so go ahead and hook up to the grid.
-
Step 3
Install the outlets. You will need to buy eyelets for this. An eyelet serves as your outlet in the dollhouse. Wherever you want an outlet, you will need to push an eyelet into the wall. Make sure the eyelet goes through the wiring that you have already placed on the wall or it won't work. You will also need a tool for installing the eyelets. You can get both the eyelets and the eyelet tools at most craft stores or online at eBay (see Resources below).
-
Step 4
Select your lighting. There are a couple of different types of lighting for dollhouses. Traditional lamps with plugs are the most popular type of lighting. The eyelets you installed act as sockets for the plugs on these lamps. You can also get lights that require no plug or eyelet. These are called push-in globes and you simply push them right into the wall wherever there is electrical wiring. You can choose a variety of decorative coverings for push-in globes.

Step 5
Plug in the transformer. This transformer typically comes with the dollhouse wiring kit, and plugs into a wall socket in your real house. Once you've plugged in the transformer, you can turn on all the new lighting in your dollhouse.
