How to Make a Bong

Passing the peace pipe is as an old a tradition as there is in America. However, just because you're not a glass blower doesn't mean you can't make a pipe or bong and use it to smoke. Always fun at a party, making a bong will help break the ice and forge a sense of camaraderie amongst your guests. Here are a few tips on how to make a solid water bong.

1. Check for supplies. Most people will not have to purchase anything when they are making a water bong. Several household items will suffice. You'll need a two liter plastic soda bottle, a couple of straws, tape, a knife, a socket from a socket set and some water. (And, of course, tobacco).
2. Make a hole with the knife about one third of the way up the bottle and about one third of an inch big (round in nature if possible). Then tape the two straws together, and stick the straws through the hole so that they are facing on a downward angle.
3. Tape the socket around the top of the straws, so that the socket is sitting around the straws.
4. Use the knife and make a small puncture hole above the first hole.
5. Fill the bottle with water until just below the hole, so that the straws are submerged in the water.
6. Add tobacco to the socket, stuffing it firmly, but not too tightly.
7. Light the tobacco with a lighter, while simultaneously sucking through the bottle top and holding your finger over the air hole.

Tips & Warnings

• Every so often you'll want to clear the bottle by sucking the smoke from the top hole or blowing it through the air hole.
• Marijuana is another substance which often is smoked through a water bong. Unless prescribed by a doctor, possession and furnishing of marijuana is illegal and punishable by a fine and jail time.
