Invitation printing is big business for stationary stores and boutiques. Many people rely on these businesses for their printing needs when it comes to announcing birthdays, showers and other special celebrations to loved ones. Now you can print professional looking invitations conveniently from the comfort of your own home without paying a high print fee for someone else to do them.
Purchase pre-designed cardstock from your favorite party retailer, stationary store or online vendor.
2
Open a blank word document on your computer and select the "Page Setup" option under the "File" menu.
3
Choose the left, right, top and bottom margins you would like for your document. This information is located under the "Margins Tab" in "Page Setup." Also select the layout of the card, either portrait or landscape.
4
Measure the width and length of the cardstock with a ruler. Input these measurements. This information is located under the "Paper Tab." Click "OK" to exit out of "Page Setup."
5
Select the font style, color and size you would like to use for the invitation. Font sizes will vary depending upon the style you choose. Typically, choose a font size of 20 or above for the invitation.
6
Type the invitation phrasing of your choice into the Word document you have created. Format it to your liking. In addition to any fun little rhyme for the birthday child or other recipient, be sure to include the party details such as date, time, location and "RSVP" or "Regrets Only" information.
7
Proofread and print the card on a blank 8 1/2 x 11 inch piece of paper and line it up over the actual cardstock to view how the wording will look on the invitation once it is printed.
8
Place the invitation in the printer appropriately. You are ready to print the document if everything looks good on the proof.
Tips & Warnings
When choosing a font, remember to select a font that will relate to the type of invitation you are printing. For example, choose an easy-to-read, fun font like Curlz MT or Kristen ITC for a child's birthday invitation.
Choose colors other than black which will match the colors in the invitation.
List invitation details including date, time, location and RSVP/Regrets Only information in this order to follow most print shop guidelines.
