How to Store a Ladder. A ladder is a necessity but it can be a nuisance when not in use. One must store it properly for both safety and for additional space purposes. Placing it anywhere other than a specially-designated place in your home or garage could be dangerous. The following will help in the storage of your ladder.
Step 1
Find an area that fits the ladder's dimensions. The best place is to hang it on a wall. This keeps it off the floor and out of your way.

Verify that the ladder will be out of the way from anyone bumping into it.

Install wall hooks into the studs of the walls. You can buy these at any home and garden store.
Step 4
Hang the ladder horizontally. This is the safest and easiest way to hang and take down a ladder.

Verify that the ladder is flush against the wall and if knocked into, will not fall off the hook.

Best to keep a ladder out of hot temperatures and changing elements. Do not hang a ladder vertically. If your ladder is rustproof and you do not have the space in enclosed area, hang it horizontally on a fence. If you are unable to hang the ladder, place it horizontally on the floor, flush against a wall and out of the way. Verify that the location is where no one will trip over it.
