Double Solitaire involves two people playing the classic Single or Klondike Solitaire together. Each player uses a deck of cards and his or her own columns of cards but share the same foundations, where the cards are moved to ascending order from the Ace of the suit through King.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 2 decks of cards and 2 players
  • Computer with Double Solitaire installed to play online

Set Up a Double Solitaire Game

Step1
Give each player a deck of cards, excluding the Joker cards.
Step2
Shuffle the deck of cards several times and trade decks with your opponent.
Step3
Place the top card face up and place 6 cards face down in a row from left to right.
Step4
Place a card face up on the second column (where the first face down card is located) and add a face down card to the remaining columns. Continue adding cards in this manner until you have 7 columns.
Step5
Check the cards to make sure the first card on the left does not have a face down card under it and the last column has 6 face down cards under the face up card.
Step6
Determine where the foundations (stacks of cards of the same suits in ascending order) will be located. Foundations can be between players facing each other or in an easy to reach area near players sitting side by side.

Play Double Solitaire

Step1
Move cards in descending order in your columns with black and red cards used alternately. For example, a Jack of Diamonds can move to a Queen of Clubs.
Step2
Move an Ace to the foundations area and other cards in ascending order that can be moved to the foundations.
Step3
Sort through the cards not in columns by looking at every third card and playing it either in the columns or on the foundations. If you play the third card, you may be able to play the second card and then the first card in order.
Step4
Play faster than your opponent to have more opportunities to move cards during the game but do not play so fast that you miss moves.
Step5
Win the game by moving all of the cards in your columns and in your sortable stack to the foundation piles.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always keep an eye on what your opponent is doing while you each play at your own speed.
  • Do not be afraid to help your opponent out with a move, especially if it will help you.
  • Try to move cards from the columns with the most face down cards under them to provide you with more playable cards.
