Your cell phone is no longer just a means to keep in touch while you're on the road. Today's cell phones are capable of playing music, surfing the Internet and even playing games. Every modern cell phone has a host of games available for you to play, and you can easily download them by connecting to your carrier's server. They're easy to play using your cell phone's keypad, and can be a welcome distraction.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Access your cell phone's server to download games on your cell phone. Read your instruction manual to determine how to do this.
Step2
Start the game you wish to play by clicking on it from the game selection menu. This is different for each cell phone, but pressing "OK" or the number "5" often does it.
Step3
Hold your cell phone in both hands. Many games require fast reflexes, so having two thumbs working at once makes it possible to get high scores or avoid obstacles.
Step4
Read the game's instructions, usually found in the "How to Play" menu. Some games also feature tutorials that help to familiarize gamers with the interface and strategies the game requires.
Step5
Connect to other gamers in the area by playing games that are multiplayer. Today's cell phones can be used to play everything from Chess to baseball against people in your area.
Step6
Orient your cell phone in a way that makes it easier to control the game you are playing. If it works better to be holding the phone sideways (in the case of a racing game or some word games), do so.
Step7
Learn more about upcoming and available titles at Gamespot (see resources below).

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep your cell phone completely charged, particularly if you play a lot of games. Games are notorious for eating up battery charge because of the lighting and sound required.
  • Purchase games directly instead of ordering a subscription. Over time, the subscription will cost far more than the few extra dollars up front to own the game.
  • Some games for your cell phone will require airtime to play, so try to play those games when you have free minutes.
  • Turn the sound down when you're in a public place. Some games have sound effects and music, and it's rude to have the volume on high.
