Things You'll Need:
- Degauss Coil or
- Comp monitor w/ Degauss
-
Step 1
Determine the value of your television to you. Purchasing your own degaussing coil may not be worth the investment unless you have multiple Televisions that need degaussing. After all it is basically a glorified magnet.
-
Step 2
Degauss coilIf the TV is worth the investment than acquire a degauss coil and wave it in front of the television. Degauss coils cost around $30 USD so consider searching online for the product and comparing prices. Chances are you'll only use it a few times.
-
Step 3
Alternatively you can try setting up a computer monitor with a degauss feature in front of your T.V. screen and activating the activating the feature. You may need to do it several times for any affect.
-
Step 4
It may be cheaper to take the television to a repair shop and have them degauss it for you.

on 11/15/2009 lol,,I found an old thread from 2004 about this and decided to try the following suggestion posted there.
Take an electric pencil sharpener, put the backside up next to the middle of the screen,,start sharpening a pencil to keep the sharpener running and move it up to the top of the screen and then follow the edge of the screen 360 degrees back to the top spot and then back to the middle of the screen. Make sure the sharpener stays running the whole time. Once back to the middle of the screen, slowly move away from the tv with it.
I tried this and the first time it fixed most of the screen color,,second try and it fixed it all. No need to go out and buy an expensive coil.

on 6/30/2007 If you own a LCD or plasma tv do not degauss your tv, it probably wont do anything anyway. Degaussing works best on CRT's.
