  1. Step 1

In order to upload onto YouTube, you need to create an account. Creating an account is free; just go here: http://www.youtube.com/signup?next=my_account.

Fill out your profile. Start with the Channel Information: come up with a title and description of your video podcasts. Choose a profile icon and decide whether or not comments or bulletins show up on your channel.

  3. Step 3

Pick a Channel Type. The choices are YouTuber, Director, Musician, Comedian, or Guru. As someone who makes video podcasts, you might want to go with Director.

In order to post your videos, you have to convert the file into a format that YouTube will allow. It has to be less than 10 minutes, under 100 MB, and in one of the the .WMV, .AVI, .MOV, and .MPG file formats.

  7. Step 7

Click Upload videos, which appears at the top right hand corner of all YouTube pages.

  8. Step 8

Enter as much description as you can (Title, Description, Tags, and Category) to make it easier for people to search for your video podcast. Click Continue Uploading and find the video file on your computer.

  9. Step 9

Select Private or Public, and click Upload Video, and you're done.

Tips & Warnings
  • Something to think about if you want to upload onto YouTube. YouTube has a 10 minutes limit, so ideally you can stick to that. But if you can't, you can always split it up into Part 1, Part 2. Or, you can have two versions of your video podcasts--make a shorter one for YouTube and lead the viewers to the full-length version at the end of your clip.
  • Make sure you don't have any copyrighted music or video clips in your video podcast. People get away with that generally on YouTube, but if you want to come across as a legitimate video podcast, stay away from using anything that isn't royalty-free.
