Online StarCraft games are still very popular. If you’ve completed the single-player campaign and are looking to get in on the multiplayer action, here are a few things you may want to know before you dive in.

From Quick Guide: Online Gaming
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet access
  1. Step 1

Choose a map. Most of the maps played in multiplayer battles are either stock maps that are already in your folder, or have been slightly modified. Take a look around Battle.net (see Resources below) and see what other people are playing, then take a look at the maps in a custom campaign. Get familiar with the layout, then join a game.

  2. Step 2

Log on to Battle.net. The updater will automatically furnish you with updates to the game you may need. Be patient, this may take a while.

  3. Step 3

Find a map you like. Do you prefer rush games or would you rather have a longer, more strategic battle? Would you like to try something else entirely? If something looks interesting, but you don’t have the map, don’t worry, you will download it automatically once you join the game.

  4. Step 4

Select your race. Single-player is the time to get used to playing a race you are not familiar with. On Battle.net, your score is kept, so play your best.

  5. Step 5

Have fun! There’s not much that equals the rush when you utterly trash your opponents! Just remember to be a good winner and say “good game” or “gg” at the end of the battle.

Tips & Warnings
  • Turn the music off for better latency.
  • You cannot use cheats in multiplayer battles. You will be severally scorned and mocked if you type “power overwhelming” in the chat bar during a multiplayer match!
