How to Find an Address in Venice, Italy
Italy's Venice is a city with many sights to see, but finding these sights can be difficult if you're not familiar with the town's address system. The city was built to make sense to those using the canals, not those on foot. You're bound to get lost at least once as you wander the streets searching for hidden gems of the city.

1
Carry a pocket map of Venice with you at all times. Mark the places you want to visit on the map before you set out on your adventure.
-
2
Know how to interpret a Venetian address. The district name is written first and is followed by the building number. Then the street name is written in parenthesis.

3
Get thorough directions from a local before attempting to locate any address. The staff at your hotel should be very helpful in giving directions.
-
4
Locate the nearest cross street for the address you are trying to find. Don't depend on being able to read the numbers on street signs because most of them have been decaying for over 600 years and are no longer legible.
-
5
Look for signs in front of attractions instead of looking for a building number. Many building numbers have deteriorated.
