How to Exercise While Traveling

You are about to travel and your daily exercise routine will be thrown off. Taking too much time off may lead to lack of energy while the calories will continue to mount. The following will enable you to continue exercising while on the road. Although it may not be exactly the same as your routine at home, it will help in your efforts to lose weight or keep your energy level up.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Swimsuit
  • Athletic shoes
  • Water
  • Jump rope
  • Resistance bands

Before and During Travel Time

Step1
Stretch your entire body. Do this as often as possible.
Step2
Find open periods of time to stretch and walk about.
Step3
Run or walk quickly between airport terminals or into rest areas and restaurants.
Step4
Climb the stairs.
Step5
Squeeze your gluteus maximus muscles.
Step6
Raise your arms over your head.
Step7
Do punches.

In the Hotel or Place of Overnight Stay

Step1
Check for a gym or pool. If they do have such amenities, swim some laps or use their equipment for a good workout.
Step2
Use your resistance bands in place of your usual weights.
Step3
Place a towel on the floor and do sit-ups and push-ups.
Step4
Run or walk the halls.
Step5
Climb the hotel stairs.
Step6
Jump rope in the room or in the hotel parking lot.
Step7
Do jumping jacks.

Tips & Warnings

  • If possible, workout with a buddy or have someone follow you.
  • Try not to get off schedule. This will help you get back on your usual routine when arriving home.
  • Stay hydrated.
  • Know your surroundings. Do not go anywhere that may be dark or may make you feel uncomfortable. Ask at the front desk for safe areas before going for a walk.
