How to Get a Marriage License in Oklahoma
Obtaining a marriage license is an important step in making your marriage legal. Follow these guidelines on how to obtain a marriage license if you plan to wed in Oklahoma.

- Divorce decree, annulment paper or death certificate, if applicable
- Marriage license application
- Photo identification or certified copies of birth certificates
- Pen
- Cash

Apply for the marriage license in person at any county courthouse. Both bride and groom must be present. Residency is not required.

Present proof of age and identity. A driver's license, state-issued birth certificate or passport are acceptable forms of identification for this purpose.

Complete the application. Applicants may also be asked to provide Social Security numbers, race, ethnicity, names of dependent children and father's and mother's full name (maiden) and state of birth for both applicants.

Pay the license fee and head to the altar. There is no waiting period and the marriage license is valid for 10 days from date of issuance.

Tips & Warnings
If either applicant has been married previously, bring the certified document that ended his or her last marriage, such as a divorce decree, annulment paper or death certificate. An applicant may not remarry for a period of six months after filing a divorce decree.
Couples who complete a qualifying premarital education program prior to the application for a marriage license may qualify for a reduced application fee.
As of November 1, 2004, blood tests are not required in Oklahoma.
