Step 1
Decide if your skin is dry. You have dry skin if your face feels rough and tight, if it is uncomfortable after you wash or shave, if it looks dull or uneven in texture, if it is susceptible to flaking, scaling or peeling, or if the pores are small.
-
Step 2
Decide if your skin is oily. You have oily skin if your face looks greasy and shiny, if you are susceptible to acne, if it looks firm and thick, and if the pores are medium to large and clogged.
-
Step 3
Decide if you have normal skin. You have normal skin if your face is not too dry or oily, if it looks and feels smooth, if you rarely have blemishes or skin irritations, and if the pores are relatively small and unclogged.
-
Step 4
Decide if you have combination skin. You have combination skin if your face looks like a combination of dry, oily or normal skin, or if it is characterized by an oily or acne-prone t-zone (forehead, nose and chin).
-
Step 5
Decide if you have sensitive skin. You have sensitive skin if your face easily burns or irritates, if you have moderate to severe reactions to heat, wind, fabrics and fragrances, and if it is frequently red, blotchy, irritated or itchy.
-
Step 6
Choose a facial sunscreen that is made for your specific skin type. Also, pick a sunscreen with an SPF as high as possible.
