Plugins are little bits of programming that are intended to enhance your computer experience, particularly when you are online. Plugins can enable you to do many things, such as viewing videos or automatically refreshing a page on the Internet. Some plugins come already installed on your Web browser, while others have to be downloaded from online sources. In most cases, plugins are free. While Konqueror does not have any plugins available that are designed for it alone, it will accept and read plugins for other browsers such as Mozilla and Internet Explorer. If you know how to install plugins in Konqueror, you will be able to enjoy the varied and fun functions they provide.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Internet access
  • Unix operating system
  • Computer

Start up Konqueror, then do a Web search for 'plugins' for a popular Web browser like Firefox, Explorer or Safari. Note that different plugins may have differing download instructions.
Step2
Set Konqueror to read the plugin: Once your chosen plugin has downloaded to your computer, go to the Konqueror tool bar and click on 'Configure Konqueror.'
Step3
Choose 'plugins.'
Step4
Hit 'Refresh.'
Step5
Close Konqueror, then re-open it. Once you have re-opened Konqueror, it will be all set to read and use the plugin you just downloaded.
