How to Add Pictures to Yahoo Messenger

Yahoo Messenger is among the best tools people have to stay in touch with friends and family, and it offers several cool features with which to do it. Not only can you send instant messages to people you know, you can join chatrooms and talk about your favorite topics with others who share your interests. You can also customize Yahoo Messenger to add pictures to your profile for others to see.

Create a Yahoo Messenger Account

1. Go to the Yahoo homepage and enter your account information by clicking the 'Sign In' link (see Resources below). You can also proceed directly to the Yahoo Messenger Web site to download the Yahoo Messenger software.

2. Create an account with Yahoo if you haven't done so already. This account will give you access to all of Yahoo's free features.

3. Download and activate the Yahoo Messenger software. You'll be required to sign in using the account information you chose during the account creation process.

4. Activate Yahoo Messenger by choosing its icon from the Start Menu or double-clicking the shortcut on your desktop.

5. Click the 'Edit Profile' link to bring up your account details.

6. Select the 'Add Pictures' link from the menu.

7. Choose the 'Browse' button from the menu once the upload option opens. This will let you search your PC for the pictures you want to add. You can also enter the images directory and location if you already know it.

8. Click the 'Upload' button once you've made your selection.

Tips & Warnings

• Keep your image sizes small both in size and in memory needs. Smaller images appear better in the Yahoo Messenger window.
• Create an avatar for Yahoo Messenger if you don't want people to see your pictures. This will still let you express yourself, but will also protect your privacy.
• If you need more answers to questions about Yahoo's service, the Yahoo Help page is a good bet (see Resources below).
• Don't use pornographic or explicit images in Yahoo Messenger. This is especially true when using Messenger's chat features. Your account is not entirely private: Yahoo can monitor explicit imagery and will deactivate your account if they detect it.
