How to Join Technorati

Technorati offers an expanded set of features and tools to users who join the site by signing up for a membership account. By creating a Technorati account, you'll have the option to add blogs, pictures, videos and other Web content to your favorites list, enjoy the ability to tag content for easier categorization and a host of other special features.

Things You'll Need:

• Computer with Internet access
• Valid email account

Create a Technorati Account

1. Open your Web browser and load Technorati's homepage (see Resources below).

2. Locate the 'Join' link on the homepage. Click on it.

3. Fill in your personal information in the form provided. Remember that you're only required to complete the fields marked with bold type in order to join. Enter as much additional information as you feel comfortable with.

4. Use the drop-down menu to select the country in which you live.

5. Read the 'Privacy Policy' and 'Terms Of Use.' This is an important step, as it is your responsibility to be familiar with what Technorati users are and are not permitted to use the site to do.

6. Select or deselect the checkboxes offering to send you the Technorati newsletter and claim your own blog as desired. Note that you are required to check the box indicating that you "Agree To Abide By Technorati's Privacy Policy And Terms Of Use."

7. Click the "Join" button when all information has been filled in and you've selected your account options.

8. Check the email account you used to sign up. You will find instructions to complete your registration in a message from Technorati.

9. Enjoy your new membership to its fullest by checking out the Technorati Tools page (see Resources below). You'll also be able to navigate the many features of Technorati from the Tools page.

Tips & Warnings

• Think about creating a new email account with one of the Web's numerous free providers. This will decrease the likelihood of your primary email address being infiltrated by spammers after you join Technorati.
• Protect yourself and your account from abuse by logging out whenever you finish a Technorati session. Never accept your Web browser's offer to remember your account information when working from a shared computer.
• Select a password that is both easily remembered and difficult to guess. A combination of letters and numbers (of a significant date, for example) works well.
