How to Configure a Linksys Broadband Router

If you’re the owner of a new Linksys Broadband Router you might be wondering how on earth to configure it. Most of the newer routers are quite easy to set up, so you’ll be connected to the Internet in no time.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • DSL or cable modem
  • Computer
  • Linksys Broadband Router
Step1
Connect and install your router according to the product manual.
Step2
Open your Web browser then check your product manual for the Web address you need to enter.
Step3
Enter the Web address, then enter the user name and password supplied in your manual.
Step4
Enter the required setup information. You’ll need to call your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for this information if you don’t have it already.
Step5
Choose the connection type you want from the drop-down menu labeled “WAN Connection Type." The connection type you need will depend on the information you receive from your ISP.
Step6
Click the “Apply” button to save your settings, then close the browser window.
Step7
Reset the power on your modem.
Step8
Restart your computer.

Tips & Warnings

  • You must have set-up information from your ISP in order to configure your router. Make sure you have this information before starting.
