How to Go Skiing in the Homestead, Virginia

With downhill skiing, tubing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, guided snowmobile tours and even a rink for ice skating, you'll have many activities to choose from when you book a ski trip to The Homestead in Virginia. The resort was established in 1766 and continues to provide luxurious accommodations and amenities to its guests.

    Book a Ski Trip to The Homestead

  1. Step 1

    Make your reservations for The Homestead online at their Web site (see Resources below). On the online booking page, there are plenty of special packages to choose from. Review these for discounts before purchasing. You can also call the Reservations line at 1-866-354-4653 for booking assistance.

  2. Step 2

    Expect a well-appointed room with tasteful furnishings and a cozy feel. Compared to fine resorts in other parts of the country, rates at The Homestead are fairly moderate.

  3. Step 3

    Check the scheduled dates and times for all events, including skiing. Hours vary, especially during the holiday times. Make sure to call before you pack for your trip to learn of the conditions: 1-540-839-7800.

    Plan to get to the resort from the airport. The Greenbrier Valley Airport, close to Lewisburg, West Virginia, is about an hour and 15 minutes away. You can also take a charter flight to fly into Bath County Airport. Roanoke Regional Airport serves the major airlines and is close as well.

    Take the Cardinal Route on the Amtrak train to get to to Clifton Forge, which is about 18 miles away from the resort, then arrange to rent a car or take a taxi to the resort.

    Enjoy nine trails spread over 24 skiable acres when you ski at The Homestead. There's an equal distribution of beginner, intermediate and advanced runs, which are serviced by five ski lifts.

    Relax after a hard day of skiing at The Homestead's spa. Treatments for men and women alike are available. For a memorable experience, sign up for a massage at the Jefferson Pools, a complex of indoor mineral springs where Thomas Jefferson once melted away his stress.
