Air Japan has been operating under its current name since 2001. It operates its international flights from 2 Japanese destinations, Osaka and Tokyo, but currently offers no domestic flights. All of its operations take place through the services of All Nippon Airways, or ANA.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Phone
  • Computer with Internet access

    Book Your Air Japan Tickets

  1. Step 1

Book your Air Japan tickets through the ANA Web site (see Resources below). All reservations are handled by this airline because Air Japan is its subsidiary. You can also book your tickets by calling ANA at 011 (+81) 0570 029 709.

  2. Step 2

Check on the availability of specific flights to your destination. Next, declare your seat preference. Seat arrangements can be changed online up to 1 hour before departure time.

  3. Step 3

Complete your booking or simply make a reservation. With your reservation secured, your ticket can be obtained through vending machines at the airport or at the counter. Pay for your ticket when you arrive at the airport as little as 20 minutes before departure time.

  4. Choose a Departure City Served by Air Japan

  5. Step 1

Fly out of Tokyo or Osaka. These are the only 2 cities in Japan that Air Japan flies from. If your flight from the Narita Airport in Tokyo is delayed, take the bus to the nearby Museum of Aeronautical Sciences or go to the Sakura no Yama Park right across from the airport. You can also take a guided tour of the airport if you want to kill some time without leaving the facility.

  6. Step 2

Travel on an international flight to or from Guam, South Korea, Hawaii or Hong Kong.

  7. Be Aware of the Travel Policies of Air Japan

  8. Step 1

Carry on 1 piece of luggage that weighs no more than 15 kg.

  9. Step 2

Check in advance for possible luggage restrictions before you try to travel with large musical instruments, skis, golf clubs or any other oversized items. They may not be permitted on certain size aircraft.

  10. Step 3

Check with the airline Web site to see if there are any important security updates that may affect you. These security measures tend to change frequently.

Tips & Warnings
  • Find unusual accommodations-and-flight packages when you book over the Internet.
  • Air Japan uses ANA's Boeing 767s, but has its own staff and crew.
  • Air miles earned for traveling on Air Japan come from All Nippon Airways and are useable on ANA flights.
