How to Play the Drinking Game Flip the Cup

Almost every college glorifies their basketball or football teams, but the alcoholic athletes that play the drinking game Flip the Cup are getting their fair share of glory too. Flip the Cup (also known as Flippy Cup and Tippy Cup Challenge) is a growing pasttime at college parties across America.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Table
  • Plastic cups
  • Four or more players
  • Beer
  1. Step 1

    Divide into two equal teams. Each team should have at least two people.

  2. Step 2

    Fill cups with beer and put one in front of each player. Each cup should be filled to the same level.

  3. Step 3

    Have someone say “Go!”

  4. Step 4

    Pick a player from each team to go first.

  5. Step 5

    When it's your turn, drink your beer as fast as you can.

  6. Step 6

    Place the empty cup near the edge of the table. The cup should hang off the edge but not fall off.

  7. Step 7

    Use a finger or hand to flip the cup. The object is to get the cup to flip over and stand upside down on the table. If you fail, set it up and try again.

  8. Step 8

    Keep trying until you get it. When you flip your cup over successfully, it’s the next person’s turn.

  9. Step 9

    The team to have all their cups turned over wins.

Tips & Warnings
  • There are many variations and versions of this game.
  • Use plastic cups.
  • Have a few clean rags handy. This game gets messy.
  • Always have something substantial to eat before playing a drinking game.
  • Have at least two glasses of water before going to bed.
