You can load videos onto an iPod Video (fifth generation iPod) and view them at your leisure or on the go just like you would listen to music. You can import video from your hard drive or purchase videos from the iTunes Store. Here are the steps to load videos onto an iPod.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • USB cable
  • Computer
  • iPod
  1. Step 1

Find videos. Search your hard drive or the Internet to find videos to load onto your iPod.

  2. Step 2

Import videos. Open up iTunes and click “File” then “Add to Library.” Browse for the video files on your hard drive and click "Choose" or "OK."

  3. Step 3

Purchase videos from iTunes. Click the "iTunes Store" from the Source list and either log in or set up an account.

  4. Step 4

Browse or search for videos. Poke around the iTunes store for videos you want to download. Add them to your cart and checkout when you are ready. They will download automatically.

  5. Step 5

Connect your iPod. Use the USB or FireWire cable to connect your iPod to your machine. Wait for the icon to appear in iTunes.

  6. Step 6

Automatically sync videos. This is the default setting for your iPod. Once you plug in your iPod, it will begin syncing all audio and video automatically.

  7. Step 7

Manually add videos. You can choose to manually add videos by changing the iPod settings (click your iPod icon to access the preferences).

  8. Step 8

Drag and drop videos. When manually adding videos, simply find the video file in your Source list (click on "Movies" or "TV Shows" or search for the file) and drag and drop it from your library to your iPod icon.

  9. Step 9

Disconnect your ipod. Wait for the iPod to finish synchronizing and hit the eject button near the icon. Disconnect the iPod when the "Do not Disconnect" display disappears.

  10. Step 10

View your videos. Play your videos on your iPod just like you would play music.

Tips & Warnings
  • Videos in the store and library have a TV icon next to them.
  • When you delete or add a movie to your iTunes library it is automatically added or deleted on your iPod when you synchronize.
  • Videos take up a lot of memory. Your iPod may not be able to hold all the videos you have on your computer.
