The JVC RV-NB1 Series Boombox allows you to record any radio station on a cassette. All you need to do is tune to the desired radio station, insert a blank cassette and record.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • JVC RV-NB1 Kaboom Series Boombox
  • Blank or erasable cassette
  1. Step 1

Open the cassette compartment and load a blank cassette. A cassette that gets erased and can be re-recorded is also valid.

  2. Step 2

Start recording by pressing TAPE <>. Keep in mind the reverse and forward playback directions while recording. If the tape indicator shows forward > the cassette’s front side (facing you) will be recorded. If the tape indicator shows reverse <, recording will be done on the opposite side of the tape. Press TAPE <> to change reverse to forward.

  3. Step 3

Press REVERSE MODE for recording the cassette on both sides. By pressing the reverse mode button on the remote control the cassette deck is set in the reverse mode. Thus, the reverse side can be used for recording. Note that recording will stop after the reverse side is completely recorded.

  4. Step 4

Prepare the source. Tune to the radio station that you would like to record. Set the radio station and start recording. While recording an AM station, if unnecessary beats are heard, press BEAT CUT to eliminate them.

  5. Step 5

Press ONE TOUCH REC on the system to start recording. The RECORD indicator will flash on the display and the cassette will start recording.

  6. Step 6

Press the STOP button to stop the recording.

Tips & Warnings
  • The player sets the recording level automatically, so even if you change the volume level manually while recording it will not affect the recording volume.
  • Prevent accidental recording (or erasure) by removing two small tabs provided on the back of the cassette tape (one for side A and one for side B). Alternatively, you can record a cassette with tabs removed by covering the holes with adhesive tape. In case of a type I tape the entire hole should be covered, whereas for a type II tape only part of the hole should be covered.
  • Avoid re-recording cassettes that are already recorded. This may be illegal.
  • Keep the player at a considerable distance from other electronic items, such as television. It is advisable to turn off the television while recording a cassette to avoid the excessive or static noise coming from the television.
