How to Block a Contact on Skype

The "Block User" feature in the Skype software lets you block any user from “seeing” and contacting you online. Here's how to block a contact on Skype:

Step1

Log in to your Skype account and click the Contacts tab--it shows a silhouette of a person--in the center section of the window.

Find the contact you wish to block. The contacts list should be sorted alphabetically by default. If not, click "View" on the menu bar, then click "Sort Contacts by Name."

Right-click the name of the contact you want to block and, in the dropdown menu that appears, click "Block this User."

In the same option box, you may also remove this name from your Contacts list. If you don't remove the name, it will still appear in Contacts but with a crossed-out circle, indicating that the contact is blocked.

Tips & Warnings

Blocked contacts are not informed that you have blocked them. They will still retain your user name in their contact lists, although it will always appear to them that you are offline. Blocked users cannot start chats with you, and any file transfers a blocked user initiates will not reach you.
To unblock a user, right-click the name (if it remains in your contact list) and click "Unblock User" from the menu. Or click "Contacts," then click "Advanced" and then "Manage Blocked Users." Finally, select the name and click the "Unblock User" button.
