How to Use the On-Screen Keyboard on a Dell Axim

The on-screen keyboard plays an important function on the Dell Axim PDA. The keyboard allows you to type emails, documents or instant message people, as well as to organize your calendar. Learning to use the on-screen keyboard is vital to the functioning of the Dell Axim. Follow these steps to learn how to use the on-screen keyboard on a Dell Axim.

  • Dell Axim
  1. Step 1

    Turn your Dell Axim on. The power button is located at the top of the Axim.

  2. Step 2

    Tap the Input Panel icon. The icon looks like a miniature keyboard.

  3. Step 3

    Tap the arrow next to it to select the method. In this case, continue to touch the arrow until Keyboard is selected.

  4. Step 4

    Touch the desired letters on the keyboard with the stylus to type. To erase, tap the backspace arrow.

  5. Step 5

    Remember the anticipation feature that your device contains. As you begin to type a word, the program anticipates several words, and your choices pop-up in a box towards the top of the keyboard.

  6. Step 6

    Insert the correct word by touching it with the stylus. This finishes the word you began typing.

  7. Step 7

    Edit your text by highlighting the desired characters with the stylus, and either use the backspace button or simply type in your new text.

Tips & Warnings
  • The more you use the anticipation feature, the more words the program learns to anticipate.
  • You can also use the letter recognition feature, or write directly on the screen if you do not want to use the keyboard. Simply scroll with the arrow next to the Input Panel icon.
  • Consult your user's manual for more specific directions for your Axim model.
  • Don't press too hard on the screen. The screens are developed to recognize a slight hint of pressure.
