Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Compactflash card
  • Dell Axim

Step1
Locate the slot. Locate the memory card slot on your Dell Axim. Most personal media devices come with a slot that will fit a Compact Flash card. Often this slot is on the side of the device, but sometimes it can be found inside the battery cavity.
Step2
Insert the CompactFlash memory card. CompactFlash memory cards slide and click into place. If the CF card meets any resistance, remove it and make sure that you are inserting it correctly. The side with the metallic parts showing should face down and in.
Step3
Access the CompactFlash card. The Dell Axim utilizes a File Explorer program that allows you to explore the files and directories in your device's internal and external memory. To access the information written onto an SD or CF card, click on the Start menu. From the Start menu, access Programs and then File Explorer.
Step4
Remove the CompactFlash memory card. When the time comes to remove the Compact Flash memory card, simply press on it with your finger and it will click inward and then pop out far enough for you to pull it out of the slot.

Tips & Warnings

  • Shop around. There are many different flash memory formats. Do not buy the first memory card you find. Shop around for the best deals in Compact Flash cards and get the most memory for your money.
  • Clearance sections at department stores and electronics dealers are full of memory cards of all formats at lowered prices. Newer cards with larger memories debut on a regular basis. This makes their predecessors more and more affordable.
  • To avoid damage, exit all programs before removing a Compact Flash memory card.
  • It is harmful to a memory card if it is removed or if the device is powered down while information is being written to or extracted from the card.
