Skype services allow you to make cheap international calls using SkypeOut. To receive calls from a regular phone on Skype, you must use a SkypeIn. Follow these steps to learn how to receive calls from a regular phone on Skype.

  • Internet access
  • Computer
  • Skype account
  1. Step 1

    Open your Internet browser and go to the Skype Web site (see link below). If you already have a Skype account, just log in. If not, sign up for one.

  2. Step 2

    Search "SkypeIn" or locate the link on the left-hand side labeled "SkypeIn." A page should be displayed about SkypeIn.

  3. Step 3

    Read the information about SkypeIn. The page should explain that SkypeIn is a premium service offered by Skype, and that it is possible to receive calls from a regular phone on Skype.

  4. Step 4

    Once you have reviewed the information about SkypeIn, click the "Buy a SkypeIn Number" link at the bottom of the screen.

  5. Step 5

    Follow the steps to purchase a SkypeIn number. Now your friends and family will be able to call you from their regular phones when you are on Skype.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember to check the Skype Web site for announcements and updates on your Skype or SkypeIn services.
  • SkypeIn numbers are regular phone numbers. Charges for calling a number in the location of the call still apply to your SkypeIn.
  • SkypeIn is still being tested, so it may have a few problems.
